The goal of the Translational Addiction Medicine Branch (TAMB) is to develop novel effective addiction treatments and precision medicine approaches, including work on the intersect between addiction, health disparities and with patients with mental health and other medical comorbidities (e.g., liver disease, HIV). We conduct addiction-related evidenced-based translational research - pre-clinical, animal benchwork to humans in clinical research settings, practice and across diverse patient populations employing novel methods, predictive analytics and emerging technology targeting patients with alcohol and substance use disorders.
Job Description:
The Translational Addiction Medicine Branch (TAMB) is seeking a Physician Assistant to perform a wide range of highly complex and novel patient care and research activities performing such duties as: patient history and physical examinations; recording pertinent patient data; assessment of patients to determine the need for medical attention; review of patient records to determine health status; and the preparation of patient summaries. The incumbent orders and performs commonly performed laboratory studies; orders commonly used medications; collects specimens for analysis; identifies normal and abnormal findings based on history, physical examination, and commonly performed laboratory studies; provides counseling and instruction to patients; requests consultations as needed; and provides orders for dietary, nursing, and activity levels. The incumbent will have direct patient responsibilities in the clinical outpatient and in-patient units and uses Universal Precautions at all times.
