Dr. Woods’ primary research interests lie in the application of cognitive models of language (e.g., verb generation) and memory (e.g., prospective memory) to examine the effects of HIV-1 infection and substance abuse on cognition and everyday functioning outcomes (e.g., medication adherence).
Dr. Woods is currently the principal investigator on an NIMH-funded R01 award to study the cognitive mechanisms and functional consequences of prospective memory impairment in older adults with HIV-1 infection. He is also principal investigator on a NIDA-funded T32 grant to train the next generation of neuropsychologists in addictions and neuroAIDS.
