Single-Sole Source Determination
Automated robotic Illumina genotyping systems require the use of proprietary reagents to ensure efficient operation and the desired outcomes of the operating systems. lllumina has been used successfully by our lab on multiple occasions for genotyping analysis. Illumina has performed in a high level of efficiency, delivered the reagents promptly and accurately. NDRU has purchased through competitive procedures a number of Illumina’s genotyping and sequencing systems which have proven platform for genetic analysis and functional genomics. Each of the Illumina systems requires the use of reagents and consumables to ensure efficient operation and the desired outcomes of the operating systems. Reagents are chemicals and enzymes used to perform an assay or research sequencing methodology. All reagents must be compatible with, and optimally perform in the Illumina manufactured systems. LNG uses standardized protocols with the Illumina equipment and there are additional protocols in process and at the development stage.
Background/Description of Requirement

Our Laboratory of Neurogenetics purchased Illumina brand equipment for whole exome sequencing and human genotyping back in 2007 and 2009 respectively. At the time, we paid   $458,560.00 in 2007, and $745,000.00 in 2009. Each year, we have been spending an estimated $90,000.00 on service contracts for our Illumina equipment. We have invested several millions of dollars in our sophisticated Illumina genotyping and sequencing equipment. The Illumina sequencing reagents have been specially designed and optimized to be run on our Illumina equipment, furthermore, these reagents are proprietary to Illumina and no other manufacturer provides these specific reagents and kits that are run along with our Illumina equipment
