Patients who are receiving opioids long-term if they receive mental health services substance use disorder treatment if they have a current alcohol or drug use disorder and those who receive rehabilitative therapies, physical occupational and rehab do better.

They have lower mortality rates. I think the key is that clinicians should avoid prescribing opioids with benzodiazepines and with patients who have a current substance use disorder and also patients are likely to benefit from mental health services, substance use disorder treatment and other ancillary services.
