Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards for Individual M.D./Ph.D. Fellows (F30)
Provides combined medical school and predoctoral Ph.D. support for a maximum of six years, annual stipend, funds for tuition/fees, research supplies, equipment, travel, and related items. Funding Announcement.

Provides up to five years of support toward a research doctoral degree (Ph.D., D.Sc.), annual stipend, funds for tuition/fees, research supplies, equipment, travel, and related items. Funding Announcement.


Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards for Predoctoral Fellows to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research (F31)
Provides up to five years of support to individuals from underrepresented backgrounds (including individuals from racial/ethnic groups, with disabilities or from disadvantaged backgrounds) toward a research doctoral degree or combined professional doctoral/research degree (M.D./Ph.D.). Funding Announcement.


NIH Blueprint Diversity Specialized Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Advancement in Neuroscience (D-SPAN) Award (F99/K00 Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
This two-phase award will facilitate completion of the doctoral dissertation and transition of talented graduate students to strong neuroscience research postdoctoral positions and will provide career development opportunities relevant to their long-term career goal of becoming independent neuroscience researchers. For the F99/K00 award, individuals may receive up to 6 years combined support for both phases, which includes up to 2 years in the F99 fellowship phase and up to 4 years in the K00 career development phase. Funding Announcement.

Institutional Predoctoral Awards

Kirschstein National Research Service Awards for Institutional Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Traineeships (T32)NIDA supports predoctoral and postdoctoral students through institutional training sites across the country. Jointly Sponsored Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Institutional Predoctoral Training Program in the Neurosciences (T32)
Povides broad and fundamental predoctoral research training in the neurosciences via institutional training grants supported by multiple NIH neuroscience institutes. Trainees appointed to these training grants are financially supported for either one or two years, during the first 2 years of their graduate research training.
