The first annual Vigil for Lost Promise in Washington, D.C. will bring together families, friends and those concerned about the toll drugs take on all of us.
The families of eight young people who were taken before their promise was fully realized came together to plan this event which will call attention to the tragedy of drugs and the terrible impact drugs have on families and communities.
They want to share their stories and learn about others who have suffered the same losses because of drugs. Their hope is that this vigil will put a human face on the drug issue, which is too often only represented by statistics, stereotypes, and stigma.
