High School Seniors Steadily Increase Nonmedical Use of Sedatives Over 15 years

Percent of 12th graders reporting nonmedical use of sedatives has steadily increased since 1992 up to 7.2% in 2005 The annual Monitoring the Future Survey identified a disturbing pattern in the nonmedical use of sedatives, including barbiturates, among 12th graders: The overall prevalence has risen steadily since 1992, and now stands at 7.2 percent.
