Summary
The Special Populations Office, Office of the Director (OD), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), convened a meeting of NIDA's Racial/Ethnic Researchers and Scholars Work Groups October 31–November 1, 2007, at the Bethesda Marriott Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The meeting focused on discussion and plans for future activities geared toward increasing the number of underrepresented minorities and women in substance abuse research and training from these respective populations. During the meeting, Dr. Nora Volkow provided an overview of NIDA's mission and research priorities, and NIDA's Division Directors discussed their particular divisions' priorities.
