The NIDA International Program supported nine researchers who participated in the 2012 National Hispanic Science Network (NHSN) 12th Annual International Conference. The conference was held September 26–29 in San Diego, California. The meeting focused on the integration of translational research and ways to meet health needs among subpopulations with a variety of comorbid diseases and differing genetic and environmental backgrounds.
Two NIDA International Program fellows presented their research during an international workshop at the Clinical Trials Network (CTN) Steering Committee Meeting, March 14, 2013, in Bethesda, Maryland. Building on the 2011 binational agreement between NIDA and the Italian Department for Anti-Drug Policies (DAP), Italy has translated the NIDA website, Easy-to-Read Drug Facts, into Italian. The easy-to-read website features pictures and videos to help readers understand the text about drug abuse, addiction, and treatment. The pages are easy to print out to share with people who do not have computers.

Working systematically over the last decade, Robert Zucker, Ph.D., director of the University of Michigan (UM) Addiction Research Center, has been developing a program to build a substance abuse research infrastructure for Central and Eastern Europe.
Building on the 2011 Binational Agreement between NIDA and the Italian Department for Anti-Drug Policies (DAP), NIDA staff and grantees taught a module of the National School on Addiction, which was held March 12–13, 2012, in Italy.
