Partnerships

The problems of drug abuse and addiction know no boundaries, and every nation is affected by them. By coordinating global and regional scientific networks, the NIDA International Program helps address public health issues related to drug abuse and addiction and promote NIDA research methodologies and findings.

Researchers Attend Meeting on the Basic Parent Management Training-Oregon Model

NIDA supported the participation of two U.S. researchers at a November 23–27, 2010, meeting in Mexico City on the Basic Parent Management Training-Oregon (PMTO) Model. The meeting was organized by Dr. Maria Elena Medina-Mora Icaza, Mexican National Institute of Psychiatry, “Dr. Ramón de la Fuente Múñiz,” to advance the binational research project, Development and Implementation of a Training Model in Positive Parenting Practices in Mexican Families With Children Who Present Behavior Problems.

U.S., Mexico Issue Joint Declaration on Demand Reduction

The United States and Mexico have issued a joint declaration (PDF, 43.8KB) of cooperation on drug demand reduction efforts that underscores a commitment to reduce illicit drug consumption and the need to work collaboratively with each other and additional partners in the region. The joint declaration was issued at the conclusion of the 8th U.S.–Mexico Bi-National Drug Demand Reduction Policy Meeting, which was held at the U.S.
