Duncan
B. Clark, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Clark is the director and principal investigator of
the Pittsburgh Adolescent Alcohol Research Center, funded by NIAAA,
and co-principal investigator of the Center for Education and Drug Abuse
Research, funded by NIDA. He is an associate professor of psychiatry
at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Clark was trained in clinical psychology
at UCLA (Ph.D. 1980), in medicine at Harvard (M.D. 1985) and in psychiatry
at Stanford University (psychiatry residency 1989). Dr. Clark is supported
by an NIAAA Independent Scientist Award. His program of research applies
an integrated array of scientific methods to determining the causal
relationships among substance use disorders and other mental disorders
during adolescence. These methods include advanced statistical modeling
techniques for longitudinal data, molecular genetics, neuroimaging,
and treatment trials. Dr. Clarks work has been recognized by awards
from the American Psychiatric Association, the American College of Psychiatrists,
the American Psychological Association, and the Society of Biological
Psychiatry.
