Addiction & The Feminine Mystique
National Institute on Drug Abuse Hosts Seminar about Gender Differences in Addiction & Recovery
| WHAT: | Illicit drugsÉ prescription drugsÉ when or how does use become addiction? Do women and men react differently to alcohol and drugs? Why is quitting smoking more difficult for women than for men? Can women really consume as much alcohol as men without harm or consequences? "Gender Differences in Addiction and Recovery" is a one-day seminar that will answer these and many other questions and provide new insight into the important role gender plays in womenÕs health and the impact of addictions.
Experts in the field of addiction research, prevention, and treatment will discuss the latest findings, and provide insight into related issues such as abuse of multiple substances, family problems, violence, victimization, and HIV/AIDS. Treatment programs will also be discussed.
